Sun Dale has implemented a system to soften the Last Mountain Lake water.

The development has implemented a membrane system similar to reverse osmosis. 

Nanofiltration allows only small quantities of mineral to pass through to the final product.

This process both improves taste for drinking, and provides water that is "soft" for cleaning and washing purposes.  By eliminating the need for residential water softeners, the associated backwash is also eliminated.
